In her poem Metaphors, Sylvia Plaths uses a series of various metaphors to help the ref solve her riddle. Plath begins her poem by stating she is a riddle in gild-spot syllables, and the first cue is addicted in the number 9. The poem has nine dim-witted eyes, and individually line contains nine syllables. The title metaphor has nine letters. Its extend that there is some significance and impressiveness to this number because it is repeated throughout the poem.
