Blacks Treated As Lower Class Citizens :: essays research papers
Blacks Treated as Lower Class CitizensThe dusky fellowship in the United States of the States has evermore been thetar force of prejudice from the whites. The Constitution of America states all handsshould do equal rights, but instead of following the constitution whites have inured the blacks as lower- class citizen. An example that the black communityhas been treated as a lower class citizen they were being persecuted for tryingto get an preparation. The next example that the black community was being treatedas lower class citizens is shown when the blacks could not receive a fair mental testingin the courts. The final example that the blacks have not been treated as equalswas when they could not get a decent job. The black community has always beentreated as a lower- class citizen not only in the past, but also in todayssociety. The first example that the black community has been treated as a lower-class citizen was when they couldnt get a expert education. "Besides, t hose doorsare always open to themBut most are take of educationThis gets easier andeasier until she comes up with still another child to abort or support, But noneof this is Negro-ness" (Griffin 92). This quote shows that the blacks weredeprived of an education, and a good education is usually a attribute of middle- orhigher- class citizen. "They are so close to their ancestors learned to read andwrite at the risk of bleak punishment, that learning is almost a sacred exclusive right (Griffin 125)." This quote shows how the whites had deprived them ofan education for many centuries. The quote also shows how an education is aprivilege for a lower class citizen and is taken for granted for middle- andhigher- class citizens. In todays society blacks are still being persecuted in schools. Anexample in todays society that blacks are still being discriminated against isin Corvallis, operating theater. At Oregon State University the white students and facultyare constantly ha rassing blacks. "People guess at me like Im a hoodlum gangmember," said a football player at the university (Cain). This quote talks abouthow a lot of blacks are viewed as a stereotypic gangster which is considered alower- class citizen in most peoples eyes. At the same campus a blackgovernment candidates posters were defaced (Cain). This shows that the whitecommunity does not want blacks in a high government position. A governmentposition is a symbol of a higher- class citizen and since whites defaced theposters it is clear that the whites treat blacks as lower- class citizens.
